National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
Also known as ‘Orange Shirt Day’ , is an important occasion that compels Canadians to reflect on the dark chapters of our history, acknowledge the profound impact we have had, and strive for a better future. On this day, we pay tribute to the resilience and strength of Indigenous communities throughout Canada and stand in solidarity against the intergenerational trauma caused by the residential school system.
Cheers to the survivors, the resilient, and to honouring the memory of those whose orange shirts eternally represent their courage. Together, let us strive to create an inclusive space where every individual feels valued, respected, and heard.
If you’d like to participate, Millbrook First Nation is hosting a walk in unity to the Powwow grounds. Starting at Millbrook’s Community Hall (72 Church Road) starting at 10:30AM. Followed by comments from Chief Robert Gloade, guest speakers, and lunch provided at the Powwow grounds.
This is not a holiday, therefor we have chosen to remain open and to use our space to show indigenous stories, open discussion and learn more about the communities of which whose land we reside on.
